February 2027 · Flying from London
The brief
Charlie's only asks: international, somewhere he hasn't done a stag before, and ideally golf. That rules out Lisbon and Budapest. Amsterdam and Copenhagen are also off the table as we've been too many times.
Return flight from London + 3 nights accommodation per person, in GBP. Flight estimates sourced from Skyscanner February averages. Accommodation from Booking.com mid-range averages for the relevant tier of city.
Average February daytime temperature in °C, sourced from Weather.com and Weatherbase historical averages. Used as a proxy for whether golf is comfortable and whether the city feels alive.
Two-part score: a general reputation rating (how active the scene is) plus a February-specific evidence check using Resident Advisor, Songkick, and venue websites. Genre filter: house, garage, disco, jungle, eclectic electronic - not hard techno.
Scored on February playability, proximity of courses to the city, and course quality. Based on Tripadvisor, GolfBreaks.com, and AllSquareGolf.com course guides for each city.
Also, not everyone will want to play golf or go out out so I am mindful of picking a city that has plenty of activities to offer and options for six nations viewing etc.
On nightlife specifically: the biggest risk for a February stag is choosing a summer-only destination — Mallorca, Ibiza, and Tenerife are likely to be dead in February because the clubs are physically closed. For that reason this analysis focuses on cities that have year-round indoor scenes rather than resort-circuit beach clubs.
Music matters to Charlie, so I also wanted to know whether there's a realistic chance of catching a decent night. I checked Resident Advisor for confirmed February 2026 bookings at each city's key venues, filtered for the right genre. The evidence slider in the map below lets you toggle between reputation-based ratings and only what was actually found booked in February.

Ruled out
Three filters removed several otherwise interesting options from serious consideration:
The shortlist
Based on the weighted criteria, the confirmed February nightlife evidence, and the overall package. Belgrade, Barcelona, and Madrid are the three cities I have shortlisted - each with a different character and a different trade-off.
Belgrade is genuinely one of the best clubbing cities in Europe, and crucially it runs all winter - the scene is built around indoor clubs and heated river barges (splavovi), not summer terraces. Drugstore, the flagship venue, hosted Boiler Room twice and books serious international names weekly. Karmakoma, Para Klub, Barutana, and KC Grad round out a deep bench of 10+ active RA-listed clubs in a city this size.
Confirmed February evidence: Hunee played a five-hour journey set at Drugstore Beograd on Feb 20, 2026 - blending disco, house, soul, afro, and Detroit techno, exactly the lane we're looking for. Two other dates that month (Boery, LSDXOXO) were too hard rave for our taste, which shows the range the venue covers; you'd need to pick the right night.
Belgrade's golf offering is limited - only two courses in the whole country. Ada Golf Club (Golf Club Belgrade) sits on the Ada Ciganlija peninsula, 4km from the city centre, with a 9-hole parkland course that European golf magazines have described as one of the most scenic city courses in Europe. It's a fun round rather than a serious test, open year-round with a driving range, simulator, and clubhouse. For a serious golf day, you'd need to factor in that this is not a golf destination.
Barcelona has one of the deepest club scenes in Europe - 800+ upcoming events listed on Resident Advisor at any given time, spread across a mix of underground rooms and larger venues. February is not off-season: the city runs year-round because it's a proper city, not a resort. The key venues in our genre are Razzmatazz (five rooms, week-long programmes), Macarena (80-person capacity, one of the most intimate club experiences anywhere), Moog (open 7 nights a week, underground house and techno downstairs), and Input (Funktion-One rig, headsy house).
Confirmed February evidence: Razzmatazz ran a month-long February 2026 programme including Jeremy Underground (a deep house/garage selector), Legowelt, Linkwood, and Radioactive Man live - a genuine genre match. Boiler Room has held events at Nitsa (inside Razzmatazz) with lineups including Fred P, Chaos In The CBD, and DâM-FunK - exactly the right energy.
Barcelona is genuinely excellent for winter golf. The Mediterranean climate means February is mild enough for comfortable play - 10–15°C, rarely freezing. There are 8+ courses within 40 minutes of the city centre. Real Club de Golf El Prat (Greg Norman-designed, 45 holes, host of the Spanish Open 10 times) is the flagship. Camiral/PGA Catalunya (ranked in Europe's top 20) is about 60 minutes north. Even mid-range options like La Roca Golf and Club de Golf Vallromanes offer solid rounds with mountain or coastal views.
Madrid's nightlife reputation is strong and the city genuinely never sleeps - it's culturally normal to be in a club at 6am. The key is knowing which venue to target. Fabrik (Spain's biggest club, on the outskirts) books hard techno and hardstyle - the wrong genre entirely. Mondo Disko is the one that matters: running since 1999, it has hosted Four Tet, Erol Alkan, Carl Craig, Solomun, The Black Madonna, Jon Hopkins, Donato Dozzy, and Ellen Allien - exactly the right lineage. It holds ~1,000 people, opens Thursdays, Saturdays, and holiday eves, and programmes with genuine underground credibility.
No specific February 2026 booking at Mondo Disko was confirmed in our research, but the venue runs year-round every week - something was almost certainly on that month. Boiler Room held their Mondo Disko XIX anniversary event at the venue in 2019.
Madrid sits at 667m elevation which gives it the sharpest temperature swings - February is 12°C on average but can dip colder. Golf is playable and there are genuinely good courses: Real Club de Golf La Moraleja (one of Spain's most prestigious, hosted the Madrid Open), Club de Campo Villa de Madrid (18 and 27-hole layouts, well-regarded), and Real Automóvil Club de España are all within 30 minutes of the city. Madrid doesn't have Barcelona's density of elite courses but it has a solid range across all price points.
